Volunteer Event! Thistle Throwdown!

Thursday, June 12th

5:30PM - 7:30PM

Meet at the BLM kiosk at the Happys parking area. We'll do a brief safety talk there before heading up the hill.

It's best to wear closed toed shoes and long pants so the thorny thistle doesn't get ya. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.) is also strongly advised.

Bring lots of water - it's hot out there! We're doing evening sessions to avoid the heat of the day but the Tablelands will still be toasty until the sun goes down.

Join us in the parking lot afterward for some cold bubbly refreshments and community

Spread the word! The more folks join, the less tumbleweeds we'll see in the fall.

Why?? Because if we pull thistle now, when it looks like the photo below, it reduces the number of full-blown tumbleweeds we see in the Fall. Russian Thistle is super invasive, crowds out native plant life, takes away critical food sources and habitat for desert critters, and is an all around grade A nuisance.
